Braithwaite lies 2 miles to the west of Keswick, which has many amenities from shops and restaurants to museums and the Theatre by the Lake. Whinlatter Pass and forest ascend from the village and are extremely popular with both mountain bikers and walkers alike. Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake are each within 2 miles with sailing and fishing opportunities.

The village of Braithwaite is a very popular place for walkers to stay because of its amenities, there are 2 pubs each serving food, 2 restaurants, a shop and of course fantastic walks from the doorstep, including Grisedale Pike and Causey Pike.

Braithwaite is a perfect base for walkers with so many walking and climbing opportunities on the doorstep, including Causey Pike, Grizedale Pike and Skiddaw. The Whinlatter Pass and forest rise up from Braithwaite and is particularly popular with mountain bikers as well as walkers. The Whinlatter Visitor Centre is well worth a visit. Braithwaite has a village shop, two good pubs serving excellent food and a restaurant. Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake are each within 2 miles and the nearby bustling tourist town of Keswick with a wealth of amenities.

The cottage which dates back to 1868 was formerly a barn which has been converted into two dwellings and has been fully modernised and refurbished in 2008 to the same high standard as the owners other properties, Millerdale and Kiln How in Threlkeld. The village boasts a shop, 2 pubs serving bar meals and a restaurant all within walking distance and all accept pets. Keswick is only 2 miles away where you will find an abundance of amenities and visitor attractions. You can walk from the door in Braithwaite and there are some of the best mountain bike tracks in Whinlatter forest. There are fell views from the bedroom windows. Outside the cottage is an unloading area, ample on street parking and a gravelled garden with seating area.

The village shop, pub and restaurant are all within 200 yards, which is great when you are self catering and there are walking and mountain biking opportunities on the doorstep. Braithwaite is only 2 miles from Keswick, one of the Lake Districts top visitor destinations and lies at the foot of Whinlatter Forest, Causey Pike and Grisedale Pike. The cottage has parking for 2 cars, and a small outside seating area and dogs are welcome.

There is a visitor centre on Whinlatter with Forest Trails and tracks for mountain biking and ample of good walks on the fells surrounding Braithwaite, such as the Coledale Round and Grisedale Pike.
