It is hard to believe that by travelling a mere 200 yards down a single lane brings visitors to the secret garden of Denton Garth where the atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility. Set within approx 1/3 of an acre of its own private gardens with stepped terraces and furniture to sit and drink in the views and watch the children and dogs safe at play in the fully enclosed grounds; the cottage backs onto small woodland where the quiet trickle of the small babbling brook of the Castle Beck can be heard.
Yet there is so much to see and do close by. The romantic medieval Naworth Castle with its 17th century walled gardens is often used in film productions and the English Heritage site of Lanercost Priory with its tea room and gift shop is within walking distance of Denton Garth. Fishing is available at Talking Tarn Country Park nearby; a 65 acre lake set amidst 120 acres of farmland and woodland and is idyllic for a quiet stroll.
