The Old Smithy (Penrith) sleeps a maximum of 4 people.. This cottage was the original village Blacksmith's smithy until fairly recently. The owners have tastefully converted and extended it, to provide a spacious and cosy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage, which retains it character and original features. There is a fantastic Jotul log burner which give a wonderful atmosphere when lit, a wealth of beams and the original Smithy's work bench and vice.
The cottage is situated on the fringe of the village of Blencow which lies 4 miles North of the M6, 10 minutes from the motorway and well placed to explore Ullswater and the Northern Lakes. There is a footpath outside the cottage for walking your dog. The nearest pub, the Crown, which serves bar meals, is a 5 minute walk, with more pubs and a village shop/post office in nearby Greystoke. The kids will love the open air pool in Greystoke (seasonal opening only) and the activities at Rookin House, including horse riding and quad bike riding.

Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley, the attractive, unspoilt rural village of Great Strickland makes an excellent holiday spot. Most of the local amenities for the village are provided by the nearby market town of Penrith and include a good selection of shops and restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. Great Strickland does have some amenities with an excellent village pub. Just two miles away is the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre whilst a cruise on one of Ullswater's motor yachts is also worth investigating – these leave hourly from Pooley Bridge, just five miles from Great Strickland. Dalemain Historic House, which was used as a backdrop in a television adaptation of Jane Eyre, is nearby as is the Rheged Discovery Centre, giving visitors a wide selection of holiday activities.

Mell Fell View (Penrith) sleeps a maximum of 4 people.. Ideally positioned in a secluded position in the northern Lake District, the charming village of Penruddock is located between Keswick and Penrith, and is just four miles from Ullswater. This little town is spread across rolling countryside and is composed of many old farmsteads, traditional workmen's cottages and two churches. Penruddock can trace its history back to Celtic times, the name being derived from 'Pen', a Celtic word for 'hill' and 'rhuddawc' meaning red in Welsh and referring to the reddish brown colour of the soil found in the area. The popular town of Keswick is close by, boasting numerous shops and restaurants, as well as offering miniature golf, some good parks, the Century Theatre, a cinema and a beautiful lake. Penruddock itself offers easy access to the surrounding Cumbrian countryside and the southern Lakes, Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall are all within easy driving distance.

Elseghyll Barn was tastefully refurbished by the owners in 2008, with new kitchen and bathroom, and quality furnishings to provide a very comfortable holiday home. The Village Bakery in Melmerby has an excellent reputation and is sought out by visitors from far and wide, there is also a pub which serves bar meals. Melmerby is a peaceful and quiet village which lies on the edge of the Pennine Hills and has wonderful walks on the surrounding fells and country roads which are ideal for cycling.

This self-contained wing (including a fortified tower) comprises part of an historic Grade II-Listed sandstone house which stands beside the parish church. The house, dating from the 12th Century, is on the edge of a small village, is screened by mature trees, and is in a sheltered valley at the foot of the Pennines. Across the valley is a Site of Ancient Woodland which provides habitat for red squirrels, roe deer, buzzards and kestrels. The wing looks out over the beck (a European SSSI flowing into the River Eden) which has herons, kingfishers, dippers and otters. This area is ideal for fellwalking, bird- watching and for exploring the Pennines (Cross Fell, at nearly 3000', is only a short distance away) and the Lake District (Ullswater, the largest lake, is 12 miles distant). Local shops 2 miles, the market town of Appleby is 7 miles. Traditionally furnished and in keeping with the period of the building, the wing has retained its original architectural features, including a 13th Century stone spiral stairway and original stone-flagged and wooden floors. Furnishings are simple, comfortable and informal.Accommodation is on 4 floors linked by the stone spiral stairway, and is best suited for a party of 6, although up to 3 older children can be accommodated in the attic bedroom. A cot and high chair are available on request.
