Nowadays, the town exhibits many listed buildings, now either public houses or shops offering arts, crafts and specialist goods to please the most discerning of shoppers.All visitors to this area should pay a visit to Devil's Bridge, a scheduled Ancient Monument spanning the river Lune in three ribbed arches, quite a sight on a Sunday afternoon as this attraction is well frequented by motorbike enthusiasts.

Tithe Barn Cottage (Kirkby Lonsdale) sleeps a maximum of 4 people.. Whittington is an historic village and has been recorded in the Doomsday Book with Parish Church records going back to 1538. A church has stood on the current site since 1200AD, covering the ruins of an ancient motte and bailey castle. Today, the village is still made up of traditional, stone-built Cumbrian cottages and is well served by an excellent local pub. Surrounding Whittington is some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside you will find in the region. Nearby attractions include the Hutton Crags Nature Reserve and the historical market town of Kirby Lonsdale. In Kirby Lonsdale you will find an abundance of architecture from the 1600s and 1700s as well as the ominously-named ‘Devil’s Bridge’, which is a famous spot for motorbike-enthusiasts and visitors looking to cool themselves in the River Lune. Several large stones in the surrounding area including the Great Stone of Fourstones, are said to come from to the Devil's purse-strings bursting open as he ferried masonry to build the bridge.
