Ideally positioned at the end of a private drive and within spacious, landscaped grounds sits The Hideaway, a comfortable modern bungalow midway between the medieval town of Kendal (3 miles) and the well known town of Windermere (6 miles). The location, just off the A591 is ideal for touring both the Lake and the Dales although once settled within the colourful grounds, its likely that you will want to take in the beautiful gardens or lovely views from the rear across open countryside and to the nearby fells beyond. Staveley is a mile away and has a great selection of traditional pubs, most serving homemade food and local ales.

Perfect for a special gathering of family or close friends, the accommodation here at The Hideaway offers everyone a good degree of comfort and space. Relax and unwind together in the large dining hall adjoining the kitchen area or enjoy some quiet time to yourself in the sunny lounge or out in the gardens to the front and rear. In the heart of what has successfully remained a typical Lakeland village, Mulberry is well placed for enjoying a holiday in a quiet location but with the busier resorts of Windermere and Ambleside only a short drive away, also accessible by the excellent local bus service or train. Staveley offers some excellent walking for all abilities, along to Ings or up into Kentmere Valley - the opportunities are endless. An excellent selection of traditional pubs are on hand, all serving excellent bar meals and local ales and do pay a visit to the Mill Yard, home to Wilfs Cafe, Hawkeshead Brewery and Organico, importers of organic wine from Italy and the Meditteranean.


Mulberry is the perfect place to return to at the end of a hard day walking or sightseeing. Situated at the foot of the Kentmere Valley with the famous Dalesway running through it. Staveley is an excellent base for exploring a quieter side of Lakeland - the village has been bypassed in recent years so has little passing traffic. Some fabulous walking and cycling are to be enjoyed here, and Staveley is also home to 3 good pubs, all serving excellent food, a micro brewery with sampling room, an organic wine merchants, artisan bakers, butchers and even a cookery school. In fact, there is so much going on in and around Staveley that you may never venture into the busier resorts of Bowness and Windermere, a 10 minute drive in the car. Within an hours drive head north to Carlisle, East to the beautiful Eden Valley, South to Cartmel and the South lakes Penninsula and West to Coniston and Hawkshead.


Staveley House and her neighbouring apartment are thought to have once been agricultural buildings, the house displaying a wealth of exposed beams and an unusual stone spiral staircase. These features have been beautifully complimented by quality fitted kitchens and bathrooms and some rather distinctive tiling on the ground floor, the traditional yet modern styling completed by well chosen soft furnishings and handpicked accessories.

Staveley is the ideal choice for the more mature holidaymaker as all amenities in the village are on the level although it is equally suitable for guests of all ages as Staveley has so much to offer. The village has a local Spar Shop, traditional butchers and post office, even a cookery school and organic wine outlet as well as one or two pubs, The Eagle and Child offering award winning food throughout the day and into the evening. The village is also an excellent base for some wonderful walks or bike rides into the Kentmere Valley or along to the neighbouring villages of Ings or Crook, a gentle amble through some lovely countryside, whatever the time of year.


Abbey Coach House offers good facilities for the self catering guest with three bedrooms, one of which is en suite, spacious living and kitchen areas and a ground floor WC. The property is presented in light, neutral tones with quality fittings and complimenting accessories giving a rather modern twist on a traditional theme.
