Having won a Civic Society Award for architectural appearance when built in the mid eighties, on the site of a former stable building, it is easy to see how this traditional style Lakeland stone property was chosen for this prestigious prize. Quality fittings have been combined well with the original features of the property resulting in a most comfortable holiday home in the hub of central Lakeland. The Old Stables has excellent facilities for either three couples or a larger family, the second floor bedroom being ideal for those party members who require some quiet time away from the rest of the group. Built alongside Mylnbeck, the property has two seating areas overlooking the water, the balcony off the lounge being just the spot to enjoy a glass of something cool in the evenings.

Bannerrigg ('sister property' to Alice Howe and Boston House) a grade II listed property, was designed by Augustus (AWN) Pugin (1812 - 1852), arguably the greatest British architect, designer and writer of the 19th Century whose name is synonymous with the interior of The House of Lords and the Palace of Westminster. The houses on the terrace were designed as holiday homes for the railway executives each one having unique character.

The historic nature of this spacious property is reflected in the style and quality of the decor, furnishings and accessories. If you are looking for a big house in the Lake District for a family holiday or short break with a group of friends, Bannerrigg is the ideal choice.

During the 2008 winter period Bannerrigg has had quite a makeover, which has resulted in the house being uprated by Visit Britian from 3 to 4 star status. Bedroom one has been redecorated and had a new ensuite installed. The family bathroom has had new natural stone flooring and most of the property has been decorated. Many of the fixtures and fittings have also been changed. Every bedroom also now has an ipod dock/radio alarm clock.

Outside there's a new large slate patio. An 8 seat hot tub has been installed in it's own building in the garden and the parking area has been extended to fit 5 cars ( in fact if you are prepared to park each other in, there's room for 7 cars).

Bannerrigg has 5 bedrooms, one being a family room with two daybeds and a double, another large room has 4 single beds. The house is an ideal base for the larger party and with the train and bus station literally around the corner, it's easily accessible for those members of your group that are travelling from far and wide.

This charming, spacious house provides an excellent standard of holiday accommodation in the heart of the attractive lakeside village of Troutbeck Bridge. All the bedrooms have beautiful en-suite bathrooms, as well as a separate large waterfall bath in its own room. There is a very large and well-equipped kitchen which has ample provision for 10/12 people, a very attractive living room with a beautiful open fire to enjoy in the evenings, a large dining room for entertainment as well as a cosy conservatory overlooking a beautiful garden and wooded area. The house stands in 2 acres of its own gardens and woodland and is equally suitable for couples or family groups. It is an ideal holiday base. Corner Cottage is set in an ideal position on the north edge of Windermere village. Enjoy being close to all the village amenities. It is also well placed for Bowness and Ambleside and access to the shores of Lake Windermere is only a short distance away. The longest lake in England, Lake Windermere enjoys a dramatic backdrop of wooded slopes and bare fells. Troutbeck Bridge lies to the north between Windermere and Ambleside; handy for both but located just off the beaten track. Visit the 18th-century dome shaped villa on Belle Isle, the largest of the fourteen islands, which can be reached by ferry. Nearby attractions include a steamboat museum and visitors' centre at Brockhole. Across the waters at Far Sawrey lies Beatrix Potter's former home Hill Top (National Trust), a must for anyone who has ever enjoyed the tales of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-duck. Walking, climbing, biking and horse riding to historic sites, (National Trust) properties, beautiful gardens and great natural scenery abound. Shop, public house and restaurant 1/4 mile.
